Callaway Big Bertha 08 Traditional 9-Club Iron Set (3-Iron to Sand Wedge, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

To create the Big Bertha 08 line of irons–the most forgiving all-stainless-steel irons the company has ever developed–Callaway Golf engineers set aside conventional thinking and employed a host of innovative technologies to redefine the look and feel of your game. The Big Bertha 08 line integrates a set of traditional short, mid, and long irons with a trio of i-brid clubs, which combine the accuracy and control of irons with the forgiveness and versatility of a hybrid. The i-brids' low, deep center of gravity (CG) helps get the ball in the air quickly and easily, while the extremely wide sole helps improve turf interaction. The traditionally shaped irons, meanwhile, feature an increased offset, a larger effective hitting area, and a constant-width sole. Add the features together and you have a set of clubs that produces maximum forgiveness and a seamless progression of distances and trajectories, helping your game excel whether you're swinging a 3-iron or a loft wedge.

Callaway's Big Bertha 08 irons offer a seamless progression of distances and trajectories.

Callaway Golf Core Technologies
Big Bertha 08 irons are outfitted with several core technologies, including both relatively new innovations and technologies that have stood the test of time. The clubs' Extreme Notch Weighting, for instance, redistributes weight to the low, rearward area of the club in the toe and heel, creating a high moment of inertia (MOI). This improves your distance and accuracy on mis-hits at the heel and toe, making it easier to approach the green. The clubs also take advantage of Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, which allows Callaway engineers to lower the center of gravity to produce an optimum trajectory with each iron in the set, giving long irons a higher launch angle and short irons and wedges a better trajectory height. And a crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented design that shortens the length of the hosel, allowing the weight to be moved lower and to the more useful perimeter weight of the clubhead. Callaway further improved the design by allowing the shaft tip to extend through the hosel and clubhead to the sole. This bore-through design improves the feel and control of the club by moving the tip of the shaft closer to the center of the clubface.

Finally, many Callaway Golf irons offer a 360-Degree Undercut Channel, which maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the center of gravity lower and farther back in the clubhead, enlarging the hitting area and stabilizing the clubhead for more forgiveness.

Callaway's iron technologies–which include Extreme Notch Weighting and Variable Face Thickness–produce better distance and accuracy and improved feel.

Callaway X-Forged 09 8-Club Iron Set (3-Iron to Pitching Wedge, Right Hand, Steel, Regular 5.0)

After receiving feedback straight from PGA Tour players, Callaway Golf designers decided to refine the X-Forged irons. The result is a series of precision clubs that make it easy for elite players to dissect the course. Forged from soft carbon steel, X-Forged irons feature a redesigned clubhead with more bounce and camber and a tighter sole radius. The additional bounce improves the clubs' turf interaction, while the added camber makes the clubs more versatile than traditional irons. Callaway also tightened the X-Forged irons' sole radius to boost their adaptability under various playing conditions. And to top it off, the company bestowed the clubs with a thin topline and a shorter blade length, which combine to generate maximum workability. Add in a white chrome finish–which mutes glare–and you have a terrific set of clubs for highly skilled golfers.

Callaway's X-Forged irons are ideal for highly skilled players.

    Callaway Golf Technologies
The X-Forged irons are outfitted with a couple of core technologies that create a premium feel and performance. Callaway starts by placing weight on the top and bottom of the clubs' cavity to create a system called Progressive Dual Notch Weighting. In this system, the company strategically adds more weight to shorter irons and removes weight from longer irons. At the same time, the company positions the center of gravity differently depending on the club (lower in long irons, higher in short irons), creating an effect called Flighted CG Design. Combined, the two features help produce strong, penetrating trajectories and precision distance control, with a seamless performance progression throughout the entire set.

Callaway FT 8-Club Iron Set (3-Iron to Pitching Wedge, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

Callaway's most technologically advanced irons, the FT line delivers the utmost in performance and playability, making the irons ideal for mid to low handicap players who demand the latest innovations and proven results. Each FT iron features a new head shape, with a thinner top line, a higher toe, and slightly less offset than other irons to produce a more traditional look. More significantly, the heads are also extremely stable thanks to the Extreme Notch Weighting, which redistributes weight to the low, rearward area of the club in the toe and heel to create a high moment of inertia (MOI). This improves your distance and accuracy on mis-hits at the heel and toe, making it easier to approach the green. And golfers will love the lightweight hot titanium face, which produces faster ball speeds and an increased effective hitting area.

Callaway's high-performance FT irons are ideal for mid to low handicap players.

    Callaway's Fusion Technology
The FT irons represent the latest evolution of Fusion Technology, a multi-material process that gives Callaway Golf engineers the utmost freedom of design. Fusion Technology employs a philosophy called Complete Inertial Design (CID), in which Callaway engineers considered all of the club's characteristics collectively and created a design that balances those characteristics while optimizing performance. The key to CID is to avoid focusing on one characteristic at the expense of the club's overall performance. One major element of CID, for example, is to increase the stability of the clubhead, which is measured in terms of MOI. By raising the MOI on both the vertical and horizontal axes, and by positioning the weight to the perimeter of the clubhead, Callaway engineers were able to add stability to balls struck around the edges of the clubface. And because the clubhead rotates less during these swings, golfers lose less ball speed–helping the ball travel longer distances–and the ball goes straighter on off-center hits.

Fusion Technology irons also feature Tunite Alloy in the club cradle. The metal–newly created by Callaway Golf metallurgists–weighs approximately 20 percent more than stainless steel and is twice the density of titanium. This high-density alloy lets Callaway engineers move an astounding 80 percent of the clubhead's total weight to the extreme perimeter, creating a higher MOI for outstanding forgiveness. Engineers also added a TPU Sensert to improve the feel and create crisp, responsive acoustics. The TPU Sensert, a multi-piece injection-molded thermoplastic urethane layer that sits snugly behind the clubface, is tuned to the clubface to reduce vibration at impact. Finally, the FT irons include a Modified Tru-Bore design, which incorporates a polycarbonate tip plug at the end of the shaft to dampen vibration, producing an enhanced feel and performance.

Callaway's patented Tunite Alloy cradle creates a higher moment of inertia (MOI), while the TPU Sensert improves feel.

Callaway Big Bertha 08 8-Club Iron Set (4-Iron to Sand Wedge, Right Hand, Steel, Uniflex)

Callaway X-22 9-Club Iron Set (3-Iron to Sand Wedge, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

The goal of Callaway's X-Series irons has always been lofty: to set the performance standard for the industry. Now Callaway does it again with the X-22 irons, the best X-Series irons the company has ever made. Callaway's X-22 irons are dialed in for maximum performance, with such features as Precision Notch Weighting, VFT Technology, a Modified Tru-Bore design, and a tour-inspired head shape. It's no wonder that the X-22 irons won a gold medal in the "game improvement irons" category from Golf Digest's 2009 Hot List. As one tester said of the X-22s: "I could hit these blindfolded. Sign me up right now." Currently sitting in tour player Rocco Mediate's bag, the X-22s received five stars in three of the four Hot List categories. The X-22s are the heirs of the unbelievably successful X-20 irons, which were used by Mediate as well as Senior U.S. Open Champion Eduardo Romero and LPGA winner Leta Lindley.

Callaway's X-22 irons are dialed in for maximum performance and serious forgiveness.

    Callaway Golf Technologies
The X-22 irons are outfitted with several core technologies, including both relatively new innovations and technologies that have stood the test of time. Callaway maximized the perimeter weighting of the X-22s to create a moment of inertia (MOI) that's 10 percent higher than earlier versions, giving you more leeway on off-center strikes. This boosts the club's overall forgiveness and stability, while still maintaining the center-of-gravity position that produces an ideal trajectory and feel. The X-22s Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, meanwhile, maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting to create even more distance and forgiveness. And a crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented technology that shortens the length of the hosel, allowing the weight to be moved lower and to the more useful perimeter area of the clubhead. Add in a 360-Degree Undercut Channel–which maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the center of gravity even lower and farther back–and you have a club that hits the ball far and straight even on rough swings.

The X-22 irons are also aesthetically pleasing, with a PGA Tour-inspired head shape that incorporates a thin top line and a narrow sole. As a result, the clubs look and feel great in your hand while still offering a large sweet spot–a must for casual players. Finally, the X-22s boast an advanced version of Callaway's original Tru-Bore design, which features a polycarbonate tip plug at the end of the shaft to dampen vibration and enhance feel and performance.

The X-22 irons include a Tour-inspired head shape and precise perimeter weighting for added leeway on off-center hits.
